When armed men set upon her house in search of gold, it's up to Abby and her family to fight back.

I read this book on a flight, and I really enjoyed it. It's actually the first two stories in a series. Overall, it's well-constructed, and I wouldn't say that it's lacking anything. It has good character development, dangerous moments, heart-warming scenes, and plenty of twists and turns.It was a fun, quick read for me (an adult), but is also very appropriate for youngsters as well. It's very easy to read, and the whole thing is just over 100 pages. I'm looking forward to the next installment. The second book ends by resolving some things, but also leaves us a bit of a cliffhanger.

A good book with a quick-moving plot that can feel a little forced at times. Wish it had been a bit longer. Great gift for about a 6- to 12-year-old. Check it out!
